“What makes the Olympics meaningful and what gives value to sports of all kinds is the ideas and ideals that human beings express through them.”
~ Heather L. Reid

The Olympic Games are the greatest display of sports that our planet has to offer, spanning three weeks with a multitude of athletic events on the world stage. They also serve as a lens through which civilization can be viewed, a statement about our values, ethics and politics of the day.

EVO Sports will look at the larger meanings of the Olympics, the demonstration of extraordinary feats of athleticism and both the good and the shadow that emerge through competition.

The Games are a living testament to the human performance potential, with this year’s Tokyo Olympics playing host to the best of who we are and what we can do as human being when we collectively promise to respect and abide by the rules, to play fair, to be inclusive, and to treat other players as equals.

The Olympics were meant to embody the Greek term “Arete”, which refers to excellence of any kind, and is tied to the understanding of living up to one’s potential. The Greeks arrived at the idea that the centerpiece of this display of excellence would be most graphically illustrated through sport, and the games became the focal point of the celebration of our extraordinary nature.

Coupled with this is the Olympic Oath. “We promise to take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules and in the spirit of fair play, inclusion and equality. Together we stand in solidarity and commit ourselves to sport without doping, without cheating, without any form of discrimination. We do this for the honour of our teams, in respect for the Fundamental Principles of Olympism, and to make the world a better place through sport.”

Listen for it during the Opening Ceremonies and imagine yourself making the same promise every time you go out to play, and how this applies to your life.

The Olympic Oath is an evolutionary promise, and this July we will see this promise in action and played at extraordinary levels. We will explore the effect of the collective Olympic consciousness on the participants and the billions of viewers.

This summer, the Evolutionary Sports Collective invites you to share in a curated exploration of Olympic Consciousness, before, during, and after the Games.
